My little friend of mine came to spend a few days with me and wanted me to teach her to sew.  After I had gone through a lengthy explanation of how to thread the machine, she stepped back, put her hands on her hips, and said in disbelief, "You mean you can do all that, but you can't play my Game Boy?"

Frequently Asked Questions

Visiting the different sewing, quilting and crafting websites, I have discovered various questions about how to use my products. Please send me your question about my products or questions pertaining to sewing, pattern drafting and/or grading patterns. I will answer them. These are a few I discovered:

Hump Jumper®

Picture
Question: Does anyone who SEWS know how to use a Hump Jumper®

Answer: Place the Hump Jumper® under the back of the presser foot on top of the fabric so the front of the Hump Jumper® abuts the back of the hump. In the picture, notice how the Hump Jumper® sits under the presser foot, not attached to the sewing machine in any way. Can be used with various presser feet.

Once you get up and over the "hump", the Hump Jumper® will fall away and then you can bring it to the front. To help get off the "hump",  place it under the front of the presser foot.

Buttonhole Buster™

Picture
Question: I'd like to know if Buttonhole Buster™ works? It shows it in the picture with what looks like a regular foot, not anyone's buttonhole foot that you'd use for an automatic buttonhole foot.

Answer: The foot shown in the picture is a Singer General Purpose Foot. The Buttonhole Buster™ is grooved to fit a presser foot 5/8" wide, the width of a sewing machine's general purpose foot. The Buttonhole Buster is not  used with an automatic buttonhole foot or any other buttonhole foot. The Buttonhole Buster's™ bi-level bottom is made to sit where an automatic buttonhole or general buttonhole foot won't fit. Also, where there are seam allowances, bulky fabrics, narrow spaces or widths.

Puts-it™

Picture
Question: What is the little hole for?

Answer: The little hole is for lifting, steadying and holding the sewing machine needle in place while tightening the needle clamp screw.

Puts-it™

Picture
Question: How did you ever come up with the shape of the Puts-it™?

Answer: One end is the blunt point of a pencil, the other a flat-head screwdriver. I use to turn corners with a pencil (a no-no, especially when making wedding gowns which I did for 20 years) and pushed way too many thick gathers under the front of the presser foot with my screwdriver, breaking way too many needles.

One day with a bit of duct-tape, I taped the two together and over time my gadget took on the shape of me holding it comfortably in my hand ~ voilà .The Puts-it™ was my next invention, invented out of necessity, frustration and way too many broken needles and pencil marks.
